Halloween and Stuff

First of all, Happy Halloween!!

I love Halloween. I love seeing all the kiddos in their adorable costumes, ringing my doorbell and yelling "trick or treat!". It's just fun.

My kid is not a trick or treater yet. She is waaaaaay to shy to do it. We did however go to trunk or treat at our church last night and although Phoebe had her head buried in my leg most of the time, I'm still glad we went. Sometimes *I* need to get out and see people even if she doesn't want to.

Speaking of her shyness, we went to the developmental pediatrician yesterday and all is well as far as disorders. She said her echolalia would fade eventually, that she is an extremely shy kid who will probably always be a bit of an introvert and that she is slightly behind on her expressive language.

So now we have to start some speech therapy, which should be nice and difficult since Phoebe is so shy. We'll see.

But? I would rather her be a little behind in her language than for her to be autistic or something, so I'm quite satisfied with the results.

I also plan on enrolling her in preschool next fall. Hopefully we will have made some strides in her shyness by then.

I honestly don't care if she's shy. I like that she doesn't talk to strangers. I do feel guilty though when she sees family that she doesn't see often and she won't even look at them and asks me to "go home". They miss out on what a great personality she really has. She's actually quite funny and smart. She sings cute songs and dances like a goof. She's extremely loving and sweet.

Hopefully she will come out of her shell at some point, but for now I'm not going to push her.

I just want her to continue being a happy and healthy kid. That's all that really matters.
